Default 99 Honda Civic ex leaking clutch fluid Help!

I have a 99 Honda Civic ex 2 door. The car had a B16 engine swap as well as the automatic transmission was switched out for a 5 speed. The clutch fluid is leaking pretty badly when I fill it the clutch works perfect for a few days and ends up leaking all of the fluid out again. Does anyone have any idea how I tell what needs repaired? I had a mechanic tell me over the phone that the slave cylinder needs to be replaced and to do this the transmission needs to be pulled (over $1000 to do this) The car also is having a problem with 2nd gear grinding. I'm not trying to sink a ton of money into repairing this car does anyone have any advice? Thanks
