It's a good idea, but not really practical for another 15 to 20 years. There is NO hydrogen infrastructure in the US and people aren't gonna spend thousands of dollars to modify their gas station for one car.

If they ever get the Home Refuling Station working, it would be a great idea. Right now, I can't get one. I am, however, taking bets on how long before it goes the way of EV-1.

Last year I spent $1,000 for gasoline for my 2007 Civic Si sedan. If I double my fuel use, and gas averages a dollar more a gallon, I'll spend $2,535 on gas in the next 12 months. The lease price is $600 a month for the FCX, and there is one hydgrogen gas station in San Diego. I would still need a real car for road trips, and hydrogen is expensive due to all the energy used to separate it from stable molecules. So no. Incidentally, my car is similar in color to the FCX used in TV commercials, so would be ecowarriors often ask me if I 'have the car that emits only water!' Why is it that complete ignorance of the world around them and deep environmental concern go hand in hand?
