I'm picking up a '89 accord 4 door beater tomorrow. It's a 5 speed with power everything, sunroof and fabric interior with 168K miles. It's just a beater.
Got a couple of quick questions: The power windows don't work. The on/off switch on top of the window switches is busted............can it be bypassed? The turn signal stalk is missing. Is it a simple stalk or does it also control the headlights? What will interchange? How expensive is a replacement? I've found a complete used column for a hundred bucks...........is this my best option? |

1. drive to a junkyard
2. find a car that looks like yours 3. park your car in its spot and drive THAT one home result: 3.6x performance increase! drive away really fast though because those junkyard-folk are creepy |

HaHaHa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I drove the Mk VII into Lubbock today (50 miles) to DRIVE it across the scales today. I had to stop twice to top off the power steering. The power steering also works the hydroboost brakes so it was a fun ride. I stopped first at the junkyard to pay for a used column so I could get the headlight/turn signal switch. While there I worked a swap. I traded the Lincoln for the column, an outside driver's door handle and the driver's door master window switch. I figure I got about $250 worth of parts. The Lincoln would have brought about $150 across the scales. I called my car dealer buddy to pick me up and walked away from the Lincoln. Picked up the Accord and made the maiden voyage back to Whiteface. It ran out good; even the clock and power sunroof works! There's paint stick markings on the engine making it look like it's a replacement motor. It's quiet as could be and smooth as butter. Wish me luck. The only problem so far is that the lights are not working, but, I betting it's the bad turn signal switch. |
