go for it, ask him to lower the price a couple hundred dollars, might as well learn to haggle right off. Find out when the timing belt was changed last, check the brakes, see if any new components, starter, alternator have been installed and or radiator. Then drive it. It'll last as long as you do good maintenance on it.

Honda is a really good car but 220000 miles is a lot. You don't want your first car to break down in a few months and have to buy a new motor for it. Your better off going with an American car a little newer and with a lot less miles. The resale value isn't going to as good but it is probably worth it. with your first car you want it to be reliable and come up with as much money as possible and buy as new as possible. good luck

u should go for it, juss try the car see how it runs n if the motor sounds good go for it and if u kno a lil mechanic wll check it, try 2 lower the price... my friend bought a honda civic wit the same amount of miles for $1,500 n it runs pretty tight.

Well, who drove it? If it was well maintained and the body looks good, the tires are in good shape. If it was well driven and well maintained, it would be worth buying.I owned a 2001 Honda Civic and taught driving in it for almost 500,000 kilometers. I made sure I replaced that timing belt every 100,000 km too.I would also offer a lower price. Hondas do hold their value, but this car is an older model......depends on how it runs/looks.

Wow--"go for an american car with lower miles"--How about you go for a honda with lower miles-or-HOW ABOUT JUST GO FOR IT! 220,000 miles doesnt mean a thing on a Honda that has been cared for.Surely try to offer less but this vintage of accord was one of the better ones manufactured. All used cars run the risk of needing repair after purchase(incl. american models -with lower miles).Just pay close attention when you drive it and try to gauge the sellers honesty about its maint. history.
