Default Honda Odyssey over Toyota Sienna and why?

Narrowed my search down to these two minivans. If you own one or did, what is your experience with it and why is it better than the toyota sienna? thanks. Thanks for all the great answers, what year models are these? If you can please list the year when you answer that would help me out....as I am probably getting a pre-owned, 05-07.

I have the Sienna and love it. But, the Honda is a great van to. I had trouble deciding between the two. I don't think you'll be unhappy with either of them.

We love our Odyssey. I work on foreign cars and Honda is better than Toyota: more reliable, better gas mileage. Ours has 215,000 miles and no rattles, still goes great.

I had a Toyota Sienna'99 which after a year had an engine oil sludge problem that Toyota didn't think it should cover under the warranty and cost us $4,000 dls. to fix. My 2001 Odyssey with 120,000 miles had no mayor problems except the automatic sliding door. By comparison Honda wins!Look in Google for Toyota oil sludge and you will see that it wasn't only careless user problem. You may look into the new 2008 Odyssey because right now there are dealer incentives. I just replaced my 2001 Odyssey with a new 2008!

Consumer Reports on both of them have them as RECOMMENDED USED CAR buys. The Sienna was a little better rated than the Odyssey in the 00-03 range, they seem about equal 04-07. I'd check autos.msn.com for their ratings and edmunds.com for consumer feedback to see if there are any common issues arising from each model. All things being equal in the ratings, it will probably come down to the OWNER of the vehicle - I look for a single owner that has been giving the van all the TLC that you would. BIG PLUSES TO LOOK FOR: garage kept, no stains, clean and original floor mats (means they kept them vaccuumed and washed which indicates care of the rest of the vehicle), synthetic oil and fluids (lowest wear AND further indicates they cared enough to spend the extra money) and lots of receipts to proving its maintenance (shows you the regular oil changes and all other maintenance it properly up to date). With these in mind, it is usually best to find one from the individual to guage the TLC. 2nd best option is a certified used from the dealer that has all the records but only pay the private party value and not the inflated retail price.

I would say Toyota Sienna is better i have a 2004 sienna and its great!! Never had any problems on it and people who say its bad is because they dont take care of their vihacles.. My friend told me to get a sienna not an odessay because sienna has better fuel economy and its much safer then Odessay. Trust Me Get A Sienna you will be happy with that car.!
