Honda owns and makes Acuras. In fact, some countries don't have an Acura line and they are sold as Hondas.

Acura is Honda's luxury brand...Just like Lexus is Toyota's luxury brand...Lincoln is Ford's luxury brand...Cadillac has a similar relationship with chevrolet, but cadillac has it's own director and CEO

acura is a branch off to honda. like scion was made of toyota. in japan there is no acura company. every car you see here that has A on it has an H over there and may actually have a different name for it. the Integra Type R if you have ever seen a real RHD one doesnt have Acura symbols on it and if it does then its not a real Type R might be a GSR that is the best an american integra can go due to emissions regulations but the real Type R is honda made and honda branded. it started off as a testing company to bring over some honda cars that were not sold here to be sold here and made in the US. they wanted to see how we would relate to the integras, legends, vigors, and all their jap cars that were brought over. they saw how big of a hit it made so they began designing new cars just under acura like the rl, tsx, and the rsx. kinda how toyota wanted to test the waters so they brought out scion to bring the xa, xb, and tc.its not really a luxary break off to it but it is a break off to honda. and alot of the cars have interchangeable parts and thats why acura engine are so easily swapped into honda bodies most well known is the acura integra gsr into a honda civic hatchback. or any civic in that casebut yea they do look alike. another one is eagle breaking off of mitsubishi. take a look at an eclipse and an eagle talon and i bet you wont know the difference.

Honda is the parent company of Acura.Acura to Honda is much like whatInfiniti is to Nissan andLexus is to Toyota.in other words Acura, Infiniti & Lexus are Honda's, Nissan's & Toyota's luxury brands respectively.

It has to do with the mysterious fact that HONDA makes ACURA. It's like Buick and Cadillac.Mercury and Continental.Mitsubishi and Dodge.Mercedes and Dodge. and so on and so forth ... :-)Peace y'all
