Default Vtec revs ?

I have a accord ES coupe with a F20B5 engine. It's the UK car so under the stereo where there is normally a storage box there are two switches and a blank. I hate the switch blanks so I thought I would put in a Vtec light. I have now put in the Vtec light and now I'm not sure if my Vtec is cutting in too early. After having a JDM Prelude for years with a H22a engine I'm used to the Vtec cutting in at 5000 and you definitely new in was cutting (It was like a good kick up the arse !). This car is totally different The Vtec cuts in as early as 2500 if you floor it and as late as 4000 if you add the power slowly. Dose that sound right ? I notice now all Vtec's are i-Vtec do they cut the Vtec in depending on how you are driving ? Could this one be working like that ? or should it be like my H22A and come in later and always at the same time ?

Many thanks,

Alex
