The US EPA rated it at 21 city 27 highway for the manual transmission and 19 city 26 highway for the automatic transmission back when the car was new. Fuel economy will generally decrease over the years but not by much more than 1-2 mpg depending on the state of maintenance on the vehicle.you can check out the original estimates atwww.fueleconomy.govhope that helps

The figures quoted for a new vehicle are pretty irrelivant because its what the car does with YOUR driving style that counts. So do this; fill the tank up so it won't hold another drop. Then take it for a long drive, combining highway and town driving (aim for about 100 miles) then fill the tank again. Then work out how much fuel you put in in gallons and divide that figure by the miles you covered.E.g. 4 gallons of fuel used to travel 100 miles 4 / 100 = 25mpg.When you refill the tank again drive again just to lower the level in the tank cos fuel expands when its warm and escapes out through the the breather hose which can be dangerous. But this method will tell you what mpg the car does when YOU are driving. The basic rules are, change gear early and dont work the engine hard. And on a highway (motorway? - Im from the UK) keep your speed to 56mph. Thats the optimum cruising speed manufacturers quote for ecconomy.Hope this helps and happy driving
