Honda Odyssey Gas Cap Code
I have a 2004 Honda Odyssey EX.... have owned it for about a year. Engine light came on about a week after we bought it.... was told it was the gas cap code. After several rounds of having it checked, cranking the #*#* out of the cap, having the cap replaced.... the light continued to come on. The technicians finally told me to ignore it. About a month passes and I'm having the thing towed in after overheating. All gaskets and seals replaced, major engine work done. (This vehicle was Honda certified....) At this point, I thought the problems were finally resolved.... wrong! Engine light back on last week.... I take it in and am told it's the gas cap code. They basically called me a liar when I insisted I am turning the cap 3 FULL CIRCLE turns. Took it home, filled it up a couple days later and you guessed it, the engine light is back on.
The only thing I notice about the light coming on that could be a clue is that it almost always happens when the tank is about 3/4 full.
If there is any Honda expert out there who might have an idea what is really going on, I'd appreciate some input before I take the vehicle in again. I'm ready to make a video of myself cranking the cap down at the gas station to take with me to Honda Service..... but I get the feeling they just either don't know what to do with the thing, or they are trying to avoid a much bigger issue.
