It usually only happens at higher rpms. If I wait for a few seconds before shifting to allow the engine to slow down, it is smooth. I heard gm friction modified tranny fluid will work? any ideas? any help will be appreciated. TIA

The syncros are bad, rebuild the tranny.

what he said . pretty cut and dry ,Couldn't hurt to change tranny fluid to buy some time , but you will need to replace tranny synchros .

I've heard about that fluid but have never tried it. I have a Y80 trans (94 gsr) and i started having the same problem with my 3rd gear crunching anytime I shift above 4k rpms. I tried the Honda oem manual trans fluid cause it was cheaper and easier to get, and its a night and day difference now. The oem Honda mtf is great. I've heard about the gm stuff making Honda trannys worse, but i dont know because i've never used it. Hope this helps out, good luck.when draining your fluid make sure there's no metal shavings in the fluid or feels gritty (rub it between you fingers) because changing you fluid might not help out any more.

Tranny is probably bad BUT first i would check the clutch master cylinder. If its that you will save yourself a little bit of money
