I have a Civic 2004. I have been going to the dealership and following the maintenance schedule.But the more I think about it, the more I see it as a scam. Does anyone follow the maintenance schedule? Why or Why not?

You won't think it's a scam when you quit doing maintenance and your car breaks because of an item that did not get attention.

the only Maintenance schedule i follow is changing the oil every 4,000 miles and replacing timing belt near 100,000 miles. Changing timing belt before 100,000 is so very important if you do not you are likely going to end up rebuilding your engine. The only other reason is if it is under warranty, because if you keep up with regular maintenance when under warranty then they are liable if anything breaks.

it is in your best interest to go by that schedule, and yes i do on all three of my cars. it reduces the chance of any system failures.
