Default Do I have a good engine?

I'm almost 17 and I just bought my car. I got a 97 Honda Accord LX/EX 4 Door Sedan and I was hoping for some reason that it had a v6 engine. I don't know much about cars but I've been told v6 engines are fast and all that. Anyway, I found out that I have a 2.2L L4 PFI SOHC 16V engine. Basically, wtf if that?? Is it good? Is it fast? What about fuel? Thanks in advance.Chill I bought the car because I liked it and it was cheap. I'm not too concerned with it being a racecar I just wanted to know if it was fast or not. So far it seems like the engine is a joke but I don't really care it's my first car it's not like I'm gonna have it for all of my life. I don't know anything about cars so trying to tell me it's got 2.2 liters of air or w/e I still have no idea what your talking about. Simpley I just wanna know if it is fast (Compared to normal cars not your Corvette) and I wanna know if it's decent on gas.One more thing. I see someone said I can get up to about 31 miles per gallon on the highway. How do I know how many gallons my car holds?

Whoa, where to start... If you were concerned with the car being fast, why did you buy a honda accord? Basically, you have a 2.2 Liter (that's how much air the engine displaces), inline 4 (4 cylinders all lined up in a row), fuel injected (no carburetor), single over head cam (only one cam controlling the lift and duration of valve opening), 16 valve ( there are 4 valves per cylinder (16 valves/4 cylinders) engine. Now if that doesn't make sense to you, start learning more about how your engine works, then you'll be able to decide for yourself whether or not you've got a "good" engine.

2.2L = 2.2 liter ... size of engineL4 = angle of the engine ... way it sits in engine bay your engine is L shape or some call it V4 PFI = engine style/model name ... Honda madeSOHC = single overhead camshaft16V = 16 valves 4 per cylinderread your owner's manual or googling your car's spec would of told you that....it's a very nice / good carnot fast since you bought the 4 cylinder not the V6what about fuel?? since it's a v4 it should be some what OK it really depends on how you drivehope that helps....you really should of researched all these information before you bought the car...

Yes, it is good.Any Honda engine is good. Not all V6 engines are faster than 4 cylinder engines like the one you have, but in this case, the 6 cylinder or V6 is faster. The 4 cylinder, which is what you have, is much better on gas. You can get up to 31miles per gallon driving on the highway. You have around 150HP.It is faster than lots of economy cars, but not faster than any sportscars or 6 cylinder cars.

Good engine? You have a great engine!!! Why?? because it gets better gas mileage then the 6 cylinder ----- Gas may be $4 a gallon by the end of the summer so that 4 you got is just fine.... FAST = No! Lots of summer cruisin around on the cheap = YES! Your pals wanna cruise with you then tell em they got to pay at the pump or walk!!!! Yeah Yeah Yeah the V6 is going to be faster and more powerfull but who needs power when gas is $3.49 already in my state!!!! ----- Enjoy!
