I own a 01 Civic Ex Coupe. I have an auto transmission. Sometimes I Shift to D3 sometimes even 2 when driving. I was wondering if this messing up my tansmission everytime i do it, or is it fine??is it ok to do it?????......I'm not even tryin to race..I just do it every now and again. Racing is not my style besides its my first car....

your adding stress to your tranny, you shouldnt do it an automatic tranny can only handle so much stress. only drive in d3 if your going up a hill or something. driving in d3 just gives you more torque to your front wheels since your civic is fwd, dont ever put your car in d2 , its bad . most people shift in to d3 or d2 to help slow them down sometimes ne who ya dont do it!

I own an '06 Civic sedan and I occasionally run up through the gears manually when confronting a steep hill. I never downshift while the conditions are safe, which is almost 99 percent of the time. It's a blast to see how much performance is on tap beyond the automatic shift pattern. Kind of makes me wish I had purchased a manual transmission.

think of it this way... why are you shifting in an automatic, if you wanted to race... why did you buy a civic? why did you buy an automatic? it just doesnt make sense... stop being a ricer. and yes ur tranny will die, why dont u put ur car in netrual... rev up as high as u can, and slap it in drive
