You have to learn to avoid the jack rabbit starts and coast when possible, especially when slowing do to stop. Go easy on the accelerator at all times and keep your speeds down on the highway. In other words, do not drive like my wife.Also make sure your tires are properly inflated and maybe even a touch higher in pressure. Keep a clean air filter and spark plugs.Sorry, but I'm gonna use the AC if I need to. Drag created by open windows may negate any savings from not running the AC
