new or used, the civic and the corolla make the perfect first cars. Here are the perks of the corolla:Better on gas then the civicJust as reliable as the civicSafeeasy to insureEasy to findhere are the perks of the civic:SPORTIER STYLINGcool spedometer in the 2006 model and upRanked amongst the top cars every yearwon a car of the year awardOffers cool safety features.Overall, id have to tell you to test drive it. After you test drive it , go with your insticts on which one is more comfortable to you, but either car, you won't lose!

You are asking the right person. In my opinion the new Civic looks better and Honda's generally keep more of their value. With that said they tend to be more expensive even when you're buying used. As far as reliability and quality go I consider them equal. Overall, I don't like how the new Corolla's look but then again I don't know what year vehicles you are considering. If you wanted a better value I would probably go with the Toyota.

They're both exceptionally dependable and efficient cars. The Honda is more fun to drive. If you enjoy driving, the Honda is the way to go. If you are just looking for a dependable car, go with whichever one has the better dealer in your area.

The Civic will be a much better car. sportier and more reliable. Toyota makes a very good car when you are in the Camry class, their base car, Corolla has never gotten reviews as good as has Honda. You don't say what year you are looking at. Truth be told, for a first car, a used American Sedan is usually a much better deal and since it's bigger, safer too. I happen to like 4-5 year old Taurus's or Sables. With cars, the general rule is "Buying New - Japanse, Buying Used - American" for best deal.Astrobuf

id say definitely go with the civic. its so much sportier, and popular, very reliable, not bad, i dont like the newer ones though they seem space like in the interior and such i like the older models like the 2000 or older the hatchbacks are a nice choice too
