The Civic sedan is a fantastic first car.The milage is above average, the performance is more than good enough and the reliability is wonderful! All I've done so far is change the oil and filters and nothing else. I'm sold.Just be sure to go to Honda's website and price the model by building it virtually, then print the page with a price quote. That really pisses off the sales people when they see that! Keeps them honest.

Great car to start off with. I don't haveexperience with one but I know it's a very popular car where I live. Only hting to be aware of is the Civic is the #1 most stolen car last I knew.

a civic is a great first car.but if it is your first car i wouldnt not get a new one. not even a somewhat new one. i would go with a 96-00 model. not saying the new ones are not good cars. they are probably the best cars out there right now. but if you have no experiance or litle experiance driving i wouldnt get a new car because your gonna get hit. not saying your gonna crash but someone will most likely rear end you. t-bone you, or hit you head on alot of people panic or dont react fast enough to dodge that and its gonna be more expensive to fix the newer one then the older one. and i wouldnt worry to much about milage. a good honda can go 250,000 miles without any major flaws.

Civics have always been known as good, reliable cars. Fuel economy good, performance, alright.
