Default Fitting alloy wheels properly?

I have a set of alloys that are 4 x 100 et 35. I had them for a VW Golf i used to own but now own a 1999 Honda Civic. As far as I know the fitting dimensions for the Civic are 4 x 100 et 38-45. Some people have told me that if I fit the VW alloys, they will stick out a little. Will my car fail an MOT, and could I get pulled over by the police?

You could get pulled over, I'd keep the stock rims just in case you have to take them off.

Just fit some arch extensions they are cheap enough. If you were in Spain, you could not do anything like this ,as everything on the vehicle must be OEM.You can get round this by having the wheels and arch extensions fitted by the car manufacturers local agent and the details entered in the log book.If you dont ,you must remove them and refit the original wheels for each MOT.
