Default My friend refers to his Honda Accord Coupe 2.0 as a "sports car"... is there any validity to this?

I did a search and came up with a few more references to it as a sports car but I can't understand why.My 1.9 turbo-diesel out-performs his in acceleration, top speed, fuel economy etc and mine is just a family car! What gives? Why is this car referred to as a sports car?

sports car usually only referrs to coupes (2 doors) regardless of displacement, performance etc...doesn't really matter, performance is what counts, not classification (you save some money on insurance)

Most insurance companies classify ANY car with two doors as a sports car regardless of any actual performance factors.

My bf's race car goes from 0 to 60 mph in under 1 second. I can never figure out why anyone thinks their street car is anything other than a TURTLE! :-)

Let's add this up:Honda+Accord+2.0= Sure as hell not a sports car!He has to face the facts, no Honda is a "sports car." At the top of their game, they can be considered "ricers", which is by no means a compilment.By the way, kja63,unless your boyfriends car is a Bugatti Veyron, with a jet engine attached to it, I think you're full of sh*t...
