Default 1991 Accord Burning Oil

About 80% of the time I get the check oil light when I start the car, after the engine heats up I start to smell burning oil and see small amounts of white smoke coming from under the hood.

The rest of the time my car starts up fine unless I drive for extended periods at which point the symptoms will start again. There has not been any change in my engine temperature and the oil was changed recently. The symptoms actually started a few days after I had the oil changed. Any ideas on what the problem might be?

Default Re: 1991 Accord Burning Oil

My car is a 91 and i had the same problem a wil back. What was happening was my valve cover gasket was leaking oil onto the hot motor. and burning. then when the oil got low enough the oil light would come on. Replaced gasket changed oil. no prob.
