Default Do you have a Honda Element? Or similar sized SUV?

What kind of gas mileage do you get? Do you have a 4 wheel or 2 wheel drive? We have a 2004 Toyota 4 Runner and its costing us a small fortune to drive because of gas prices...so we are looking to do something about it. We only get 18 miles per gallon ON AVERAGE.

My friend has an Element and loves it. Good on gas mileage, and dependable. You can read some user reviews/articles on sites like http://www.buyingadvice.com/

Technically, the Element is not an SUV in the classic sense. Like most off road vehicles built today, the Element is built on a light automobile chassis. Just because it has all wheel drive does not make it an off road vehicle.I've been told that the Element and CR-V are both basically Accord based vehicles with some heavy duty components. If you want room and milage, look at the Honda Fit. Front wheel drive and a smaller engine than the Civic with most of the performance, and a lot of the flexibility of the Element.

I have the CR-V AWD, it gives me about 23mpg in short run city driving with an automatic, it gets close to 30 with mixed highway/city driving. The Element doesn't quite get as good as the CR-V although mechanically they're alike, it's heavier and more square so not as aerodynamic.

I have a 2003 AWD, five-speed Element. Bought it new in 11/03 and have averaged about 22-24mpg. The stick-shift Element revs high...3000 rpm at 60 mph, 3500 rpm at 70 mph. That's not unusual for Hondas. The automatic spins slightly lower at the same speeds. Some fanatical owners have actually added a sixth gear to the manual gearbox using parts from a Civic Si or an Acura TSX. About $170 in parts and serious wrenching ability. http://www.elementownersclub.com/for...d.php?t=25635.

I own a 2008 Honda Fit, it is only 4 months old and the paint is cracking in a variety of places. The manual transmission is continually jumping out of gear and a myriad of rattles are present throughout the car.Around one month ago we had 4 inches of snow, the Fit is so light their was no braking possible, whenever i would press on the brake pedal it would just slide. This is not a car you would want in a part of the World where cold or snow is prevelant.Truthfully, i am just buying time now, in another month or so i am going to trade this pile of foreign junk in!I can honestly say this is the biggest pile of junk i have ever owned.I can sum up Honda in one word : G A R B A G EListen, just go to the Honda website, their is no email support for customer relations only a telephone number that has an answering machine. What an over glorified company of complete rejects, it is no-wonder they surrendered in WW2.I mean no disrespect but i am furious with this troll group.

You have posted this story on far too many threads. Once is enough. Once in a great while, you will get a lemon or two. Why haven't you addressed the dealer from who you bought the car? Stop whining about it and deal with it directly. It almost sounds like you made the story up to discredit Honda... but only true fools do that.
Also, don't even go into WW2. Not the time or place to bring up that part of the past in relation to building automobiles.
