Default How can i get better gas mileage out of my 92' Acoord?

I have a 92' Accord with 240K miles and it is getting 19 miles per gallon half highway and half street travel. Is this good and how can i get more miles per gallon

240K, surely it needs replacement engine. Sounds like its worn out.

What's the question? Have you dropped from something to nothing, i.e. to 19 mpg. Does the engine burn oil, whats going on before. Answer some more questions. there is no reason that this car shouldn't be driven until its dust.

mileage drops when car has run those many nos. of miles.u can do a complete overhauling of engine. Also if there's a long stoppage in traffic u can kill the engine.that also saves fuel

one of the biggest things, is having proper tire pressure. Don't use A/C in the city, and don't open your windows on the highway. One of the things I do if I'm going to be stuck somewhere(the bank, drive thru) is turnoff the car while I wait. This will save gas if you end up idling for 10 second or more. But it does a number on your electrical system.

Even with the fact that you have 240k on your engine, 19mpg combined city/highway is really quite good. On my old 93 EX with 153k, I got around 23 with I babied it and wasn't in a rush, and about 21 when I floored it to hear the engine roar (whine).
Better gas mileage is
1) New Spark Plugs if you haven't
2)Oil filter
3) Replace air filter if you haven't
3) ALWAY ALWAYS check tire pressure. That ROBS you of HP and MPG, and puts more wear and tear on your engine
4) Run fuel injector cleaner through the fuel system
5) No A/C
6) Baby it
7) It's 17 years old, what do you expect. In 91, 19mpg was pretty damn good anyways

Could have thrown a change of the fuel filter(s) on that list as well.

Ha. You're right.
I was thinking it, but I didn't type it.
Well, as long as you got it up there.
