Angry 95 Honda Accord LX Wont Start HELP!!!

OK, Guys, I am new to this forum and need a lot of help. My wifes car died the other night while idling in front of the house. It had been running about 10 minutes or so and it quietly died (no noise, no nothing). Now comes the part I dont want to admit. It has 197,000 miles and has never had the timing belt changed. (I know you are saying what an idiot! But, lets get past that for a moment.) Over the last couple of months, the car started having problems starting (say 4 times) It would not start no matter what you tried. If you come back an hour or so later, it would start and run just fine. So, I am not sure it is the timing belt yet. From what I have read, you can remove the distributor cap and see if the rotor turns while cranking. If not, I already know the answer. If that turns out to be the case, since this motor is sync'ed, will the valves still be damaged since it was parked and idled? Now back to the other starting problem. Coulld the two be related? If so, where would you start? Spark, Fuel,? please provide any help you think might save me a bunch of money or a new car......

Well, I think the timing belt is broke! I removed the distributor cap and the rotor is not turning when I engage the starter. Can someone please tell me if this motor is syn'ed? Will I have to replace valves? What chance do I have of getting away without extensive valve damage? Shoot it to me straight...

The timing belt was broke. I found a hungry (and GOOD) mechanic to tear it down and tell me the damamge. He replaced the belt and it fired right up. No valve damage. I got out for $300......

I consider myself lucky.

Lucky you for that great deal. But I'm still thinking someone should have replied to you in the forums. Anyway, I'm glad your car's working great now. Thank you for the update! Hopefully I can help you out in the future..
