I have a 2001 Honda Odyssey that was repaired free of charge when the transmission failed at 79,000 miles. Unfortunately the replacement transmission has now failed at 112,000 miles. The dealership is claiming that the first transmission only had a warranty of 12 months/12,000 miles! Apparently they are claiming because we did not participate in the cost that is the standard warranty!?!?!?!
For this 2nd transmission they are charging us $700 labor (originally $900) and giving us a 3 yr 36,000 mile warranty. We found out tonight after getting our car that the 3yr/36,000 mile warranty was standard because we were "participating in the cost". What a line of BS from Honda!!
I am P.O. they are trying to charge me for this new round of transmission repairs when the initial transmission repairs should have rectified the problem and did not. It speaks volumes about their commitment to quality and the quality of getting work done at a dealership. I mean 12 months/12,000 miles?
We should have got the standard 3yr/36,000 mile warranty and this 2nd transmission would have been also covered.
Any comments on recourse to get our money back? We have asked to talk to the district manager but he will only meet with us in person and will not take our phone calls. So we are planning to do that next week. This almost calls for a 2nd class action lawsuit:

Also any other comments as to whether folks feel we are headed for a 3rd transmission in a couple of years? Or have they finally found someway to fix this problem once and for all?
P.S. All you Honda Odyssey owners (2000-2004) get your transmission fluid changed at the dealership. This will help insure you that they don't come up with the excuse that you haven't changed your transmission fluid recently. I hear that is another one of their tactics. I also have a Camry and have had that car for 200,000+ miles without a problem.
