1997 Honda Prelude turns on and off
Hello all,
I have recently got the distributor change on my 1997 honda prelude (5-speed) because it just died out on the freeway one day and it would crank but not all the way to distribute power to the sparkplugs, so I got it towed to the auto shop and they change the distributor, when I got the car back it had a strange smell in the car and while I was driving it, the rpm would rev high without even pressing on the gas and I would be in 3rd gear, but it also does this in the 1st and 2nd gear. So it would rev high then suddenly drops and then the car shuts off. I then sent it to another auto mechanic and he said it has something with the distributor but he tweak it so it can be align with the timing belt, but I am not sure how long this will last. I do not really want to take it back to the original auto shop because it seems like they dont have a clue what they're doing! and I dont want the car messed up anymore than it is, if anything have any clue what else could it be besides the distributor doing this on and off crap to my car, I am gladly to here your suggestions thanks! Also, the strange smell in my car was due to the wiring in the dash board, not sure what it was but it was blowing smokes in the car 3 days later after I got it back from the original auto shop, something about the negative and positive electrical wires touching eachother.
