Default 88 Honda CRX Clutch?

How would I know if the clutch is bad by looking at it? And how do I know if it's the clutch vs the transmission? I know it doesnt go ANYWHERE whenever you put it into gear. But I havent checked the clutch yet. I've never worked on a car with a manual transmisison, it's always been an automatic.

If you put the car into gear then the clutch is fine, its the transmission.

If it was the clutch, you would have noticed it deteriorating over time. It'd start with slipping and progress from there. If you were physically looking at the clutch, it's be glazed over and/or the "meat" would be down to the rivets. Could be the clutch cable needs to be adjusted. Jack up a front corner of the car and feel to see if the axles are fully in place, and didn't just fall out. When it's in gear, does the car roll like it's in neutral or does it not move at all like it's stuck in gear?
