replace front and rear suspension/struts on a '01 Civic LX Coupe
I'm about to replace the front and rear suspension on my 2001 Honda Civic LX Coupe daily driver with 148K miles. It has a leaking front strut and the ride is terrible now. I can go 75 mph with moderate shaking but any faster and forget it; my hands would be numb after 3 minutes.
As replacements, I purchased the KYB GR-2 Gas Strut Assembly (front R 331008; front L 331009; 2x rear 341311) on Amazon. The fronts were $99 each (from Amazon) and the rears were $74 each (Auto Parts Warehouse via Amazon). All 4 were $120 each from the Honda store when I called them, no thanks.
Can anyone provide any hints on the installation process? Will I need any special tools? I plan to borrow the spring compressors from AutoZone ($40 fully-refundable deposit) and return them upon completion. I am also waiting on a new impact wrench from Amazon...or maybe Harbor Freight, whichever. What about an assistant; necessary or just helpful? Should I replace any bolts/etc. as part of this installation? There are some sort of rubber-like stops at the ends of the springs, do I need to replace these (about $17 each)?
