Default Is anyone else unhappy with their 2007 Civic?

I was so happy with it when I first got it, but now so many things bother me. It uses so much more gas then they advertise, the blind spot on that thing is huge, sometimes you cant see the largest objects. And i took it to the dealership for maintenance today and they told me that I needed new brakes with 16,000 miles on the car. That sounds so absurd, drove my old car 70,000 miles before i had to change my breaks. Is it just me, or does anyone else feel disappointed.

The bad gas mileage and worn out brakes are the result of your poor driving habits, namely, you drive too fast.RE: the blind spot, DIDN'T you test drive the car??????

I think its just you. I love my Honda! I'm at 32,000 miles no problems! My gas efficiency is divine.

I have an 07 Civic Si sedan. I love it. I just turned 20k miles... brakes are fine, fuel mileage is between 26-31 depending on my driving habbits... No blind spots I can't overcome by turning my head or looking in a mirror...

GISELLE, I completely understand your frustration.

I bought my first Civic in 94. It was an EX model. After 12 years and 180K miles I decided to get another one, so I replaced it with 2007 EX. Obviously I was pretty happy with my old car and I was expecting that the new one will be at least as good as the old one. Well, turns out ... not exactly. Don't get me wrong, so far I am pretty happy with the car, but if I had a choice to get another brand new 94 civic or 2007 one, I would go with the old one. The new civic is bigger. It has quite more space in the back than the old one. Weels are two sizes bigger than the old one, so the ride is less noisy. But the price for all this is worse MPG. I get about 7 MPG less on the new civic compared with the old one (70% highway, 30% city, no stop and go traffic).

I don't consider myself an aggressive driver, but I live in Colorado and drive in the mountains once every other week. Only after 20K miles it looks like I need to replace my front disks since I get pretty bad vibration when I apply brakes at highway speeds driving downhill.

A few other things that I find somewhat annoying in this car:

1. Automatic transmission: way too quick to switch gears. It down shifts whenever you apply brakes, which is nice and supposed to provide longer brake life, but it does not. On my old civic I replaced my front brake pads after about 50K, and discs were ok up to 110K.

2. Power steering seems to be underpowered. The car noticeably shakes if you try to steer while wheels are not spinning. Does not bother me too much since I don't do it often, but keeps me wandering, if it will fail sooner rather than later.

3. ABS kicks in too soon for my taste. If you hit even a tiny pothole or small bump while you are braking, chances are ABS will kick in and wont disengage until either you stop or release brake pedal. (I wonder if that's the reason I had to balance my tires only after a year and 16K miles).

Other than that, it's a pretty good car. Just don't expect really good MPG and try not to use brakes
