Default Help Me Close My Odyssey's FRONT Door!

Hello All,
I have what appears to be (judging by the lack of related information I can find) an unusual problem with my 2003 Odyssey. My wife unlocked the van with the remote as usual -- no problems. However, when she went to close it, it wouldn't close and bounced back open. The door latch -- I'm talking about the part midway down the edge of the door that actually holds the door closed -- is closed, as if the door itself were closed. I've attached a pic showing what I tried to describe.

No matter what I try, I can't get the latch open. I've tried the remote, inserting the key into the door lock, pushing the door lock buttons inside, lifting the door locks inside (at top of door, by window), and various combinations of these things, all to no avail. And, yes, I've tried pushing and prodding the latch with a screwdriver. No luck. Any suggestions (besides 'Take it to a Honda dealer') would be most appreciated. Thanks.
