Default I need help. is it possible to remove my honda civic D series MT. without taking out the engine?

i recently installed a D series engine in my 99 civic DX coupe. the engine runs great however the clutch will not engage, so when you put it in gear the car wont move. i think it might be a problem with the carrier bearing. but i am not sure. my question is, can i remove, or swing down the tranny to gain access to the clutch pressure plate etc without removing the engine.? i have heard this is possible, any help or possible explanations for my problem would be great. thanks

yes I've done it at least 100 times...literally,remember safety first there's no reset button in real life so use stands or rims to keep the car from coming down and tire chalks or bricks behind the rear tires.remove the two 32 mm axle nuts in the center of the rims before lifting the car, once the cars in the air and safely secured,un bolt the starter, ground straps, bell housing nuts, remove lower ball joint bolts on both sides so that the the ball joints separates from the hubs(not removing the whole ball joint just from the hub)then remove the axles(some times its hard, just use some elbow grease),once the axles are out put a jack underneath the tranny and remove the tranny mounts, slowly lower the tranny and pull back and remove your tranny,to reinstall just do it all in reverse and make sure all nuts and bolts are tightened properly and the cotter pins(very, very important) re inserted throw the axles ends once the 32 mm bolts are tight (don't over tighten or you will ruin your bearings...if you run in to any problems let me know...rootsofmt.zion at you know where.peace

Yes you can do it, but it's going to be a pain. There's very little room, so you're going to have to fight with it to get it out and then back in. Unfortunately, there aren't any pictures of actually removing it from the block or lowering it, but this might be slightly helpful:http://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=811691This as well:http://www.d-series.org/forums//showthread.php?t=14079
