Default Hundai Elantra vs. Honda Civic?

Hundai Elantra 2008 vs Honda Civic? What do you have to say about this car? What do you have to say about it in comparison to a Honda Civic?

japanese vs korean.. definitely go for japanese.. It may be more expensive but it has a great resale value.Another thing, there are more after market parts for the civic than any other car out there.

Consumer Reports recommends both. The Elantra is "not as agile as the Civic" and overall mileage is 27. The SE has electronic stability control which is recommended (all cars will have to have it by 2012). It runs $14 - 17K. The Civic gets 28 MPG (31 with the manual); is noisier, and has better crash results. Also, many more after-market options. But the cost is $15K to $30K - the high one is the hybrid.

the honda cars have many advantages and a big one is being engineered for safety. new civics have standard abs, side airbags etc... i know the hyundai cars have come a long way and they are likeable but i would put my money on the honda

Take it from some one who has had a korean car and japanese car, My honda never had half the problems i had with the hundai, I had over 300,000 on my honda when i got rid of it, and it was still in great shape. 112,000 when i got rid of my hundai and it was basicly falling apart. I only drive German cars now, but Sometimes I miss my little Honda.

Hyundai is cheaper to buy (initially) and has a better warranty. IN every other way, the Honda is vastly superior. Hyundai's handle poorly, don't get as good gas mileage, and their dealer network is awful. They are the K-Mart of auto dealers. After four years and 60,000 miles your Hyundai will be worth almost nothing, while the Honda will still get back 50-70% of it's initial cost. So overall, the Hyndai is not really cheaper.

Hyundai is actually classified as a 4 wheeled coffin... the civic is a compact car...go for the Honda
