Default Check Engine Light came on, Honda Civic Si 2002?

i'm driving to work and the check the engine light came on, any ideas what it could be? i'm gonna have it checked this afternoon but i just wanna be ready for what it might be. I know the car has quite some miles on it, but i've been servicing it right on schedule. I'm so upset

it could be a number of things if the car has 100,000 thousand or more it may just be and 02 censer

Relax for now. It could be something as simple as a bad spark plug or even not putting your gas cap on tight enough. The check engine light means that something is causing it to fail emissions. Not necessarily the end of the world, but difficult to diagnose without actually looking at it.

No reason to be upset....could be something as simple as the Fuel Cap not being on tight enough!Usually when the Check Engine light comes on, it is something to do with emissions as a rule....especially in those.So I wouldnt stress too much.Chris

This is a good one. the check engine light could be as simpleas the gas cap missing, warranty checkup due, butmost of the time its a exhaust warning which would be the o2 sensorneeds replacing and could be expensive as much as 148.00for the part and twice that much for labor.

i got 5 bucks on o2 sensor thats what honda do!!! no harm just a freindly amber light will grace your presence every time you enter the car lol
