If you cannot lock the door with the key then the problem is with the lock linkage that operates the door lock part of the door latch. that linkage is basically a series of steel rods that are attached with pivoting clips. when the clips break the rod becomes disconnected from the lock and latch mechanism and neither the door lock actuator that is operated by the remote nor the key will have any effect on the lock because the rod they move isn't connected to anything.you'll have to have the door panel taken apart to find and replace the broken clip.I expect that you can hear the door lock actuator "click' when you use the remote so the actuator should be good.hope that helps
