I have a b18 that I got for free, so I took it apart to rebuild it. If I want a motor reving between 6000 to 8000 rpms what stroke do I need?? Should I raise the compression?? I don't want to turbo this motor, and I want it to hold up to alot of stress. Please no BS. I need advice from people who know what they are talking about. Thx
This is a ls motor but I don't have any of the Vtec parts or ecu for it. Do you think I need to change the stroke to rev faster??I am going to change the crank as well. I will be getting a steel crank. I want to have nos in the long run, and I don't want to sling the bottom end apart. I think this motor is out of an integra.

b18?? what b18. what do you mean you wanna rev between 6-8k? Stroke depends on what crank. If your doing ls vtec keep ls crank it has a longer stroke than gsr. your question is vague, or misworded rather. edit question with more acurate details. Not sure what you have and what youre tryin to do. a longer stroke gives you torque. If you wanna rev out faster get a lightened flywheel. Youre LS crank has the longest stroke you can getEdit... So you just wanna be able to rev higher safely? Need new valvetrain, valves, springs retainers... Forged pistons for stress from extreme temp variance from nitrous would be a good idea. Stronger rods, stronger head studs. A knife edge crank will remove some rotating mass and help rpms climb faster. Spinning a rod bearing would be one of your biggest dangers best preventative measure for that is check your oil regularly. Do your research before making decisions like getting a new crank. Thats not nearly the most important factor for a safer build

id suggest converting to lsvtec. if you can afford it then get forged internals and arp rod bolts... rod bolts are the weak link of ls motors and high reving. if its budget build for less than 250hp or in that area id just have the rods shot peened and put arp rod bolts and head studs in along with a b16 head. that'll let you rev to 8k.
