Default Upgrade wheels & tires for my Accord. What size will give my the best comprimise of...?

handling vs. ride, while keeping the mileage good. My 04 Accord lx 4cyl. has 205/65/15's as the standard size. I'm thinking about going up to 215/55/16's or 215/50/17's. Are a slightly wider rim or wider tire going to pose a problem rubbing? I don't want to get poor mileage or have a rough ride, but I do want to improve my car's real-world handling and grip. I'm keeping the stock suspension. What would you guys/girls recommend?

I highly recommend getting the 17" for appearance/ handling or 16" for better MPG/ smooth ride quality. http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/resul...4&autoModClar= has a nice selection, I bought mine from Discout Tire. I have a '03 Accord EX 4 cyl. and I have 18" rims on it, and there's defiantly a ride difference and the speedometer is very slightly off. My rims just stick out... by a couple cm too (I have 225/40/18), but no rubbing problems. I suggest you don't get a tire wider than what you were thinking 215, they should not rub at all and won't stick out (my stock rims are that wide). So, get 16" if you want good MPG/ ride quality, or the 17" for apperance/ handling. Hopfully this helps you!

We don't recommend any higher than 17, and even then, we expect customers to understand that something as simple as changing wheel size can (most likely WILL) change the gasoline MPG, as well as put stress on the suspension system that was not intended for it.Again... no higher than 17.

I currently have a 1990 Accord. The car fits the P 225/40 R18 very nicely. I work in a tire shop and I think I may have seen larger wheels than that on the newer Accords. If you are looking for a balance between handling and comfort. I would say you should go with something around 215/45 R17. It will look nice. Handle a little better than stock, and should still be a fairly comfortable ride.
