Default One more honda fit question?

I have the fit sport, and it is an auto transmission, but it has P,R,N,D,(S). Okay, I asked the salesman what it is and he said it is second gear... I thought it was "sport" mode... And the paddle shifters, how do I use those? Just when I am in drive? Why would use these when i am in normal drive mode?? Help! Explaining anything else about this will be helpful too, since he didn't go over too much with me!

i dont know much about the fit yet. dont really like the body style so never test drove it. but its a semi auto transmission not full auto. its an electric shifter on the automatic transmission. the paddle shifters let you shift when you like kinda formula one style. the S does seem to be like what would be on a regular car P R N D4 D3 (2) (1) like the bottom shifts i wouldnt paddle shift on (S) the thing is the Sport just gives you a nicer sportier look the regular Fit also has it the same way as in the P R N D S its just like a lower gear. but ill look more into it like the engine swap you wanted to know about. im not sure but u might just need motor mounts to drop in the k20

The S is indeed the sports mode. The salesperson doesn't know what he's talking about. In normal drive (D) mode, you just drive like every other automatic out there. If you need some extra passing power, tap the - paddle to downshift (even though the car will do the same job if you "floor it") for a little while.

In the "S" mode, the car will stay in gear 1 when you start unless you upshift (prses the + paddle). but this mode lets you utilize the limited powerband of the car better, and gives you more control over the speed i.e. safer. I don't know if it will go all the way up to redline, I only had a brief moment test driving it in a dealer. I ended up buying a manual as they are always more fun to drive.
