I'm trying to find out if anyone knows this? I'm working on an 95 Acura Legend with a 3.2-V, type II Honda engine, and I need to know if the bolt that holds the torsional damper (harmonic balancer) is right or left hand threads? I don't wish to break this bolt, and need to know, so if you know I would appericate an answer.Thanks!!!I have the damper locked down to where it won't turn, and I'm using an inpact wrench with a short socket on it, and it won't budge. Lock-tite on it, maybe?Right hand threads means it turns the same way the clock goes to tighten the bolt, and the other direction for left hand threads.

Right hand threads, got crossedGood luck with that bolt!They are a PITA! even with a 3/4 impact.Make sure you don't melt the rubber if you do heat it up. God, I do not envy you.

right hand thread....they usually need heat to free. been there done that!

The bolt is threaded in the opposite direction of the way the harmonic balancer normally spins. Smack it with a hammer a couple of time to loosen any rust that might be in there.

Yes, I know. They are pain in the butt to take out. What I did was attached to long 1/2 breaker bar, and stumped on the bar few times. They are threaded just like any other bolts that you need to turn counter clock wise direction to take out.

The old saying is "Righty Tighty, Lefty Loosey" and it applies here.

It is a normal threaded bolt. Clockwise to tighten and counter clockwise to loosen. If you are having a hard time breaking the bolt loose they make a tool that fits into the balancer that you attach a 1/2 inch breaker bar in that holds it while you either use and impact gun or another 1/2 inch breaker bar with the socket.
