I have a 92 EG civic and i need a new gearbox, what i want to know is if i upgrade and do an engine swap to a v-tech will i have to buy a new box? will the gearbox be compatible or will it have related issues????Please help cause im almost buying one.. :S

I think it will work but the timing for the shifting and RPM is going to be off and slow. My cousin swapped out her tranny when it went bad on her EX V-tech with a DX non V-tech tranny and it works but the RPM is slow and theres a power is lost.

VTEC, Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control.If you swap to SOHC VTEC motor for your Civic you can use any Hydro D series Tranny. The Si/Ex trans is usually the most sought after since it has smaller gears which equals less HWY MPG.
