Default I'm thinking about buying a Honda Element LX 4WD. Any input?

Hi, I want a versatile vehicle I can use in town but also for the outdoors. I don't want a gas guzzler. I love to camp, hike, bike, kayak, skii, do all these things. Do any owners have any good or bad things to say? Does the Element 4WD guzzle too much gas or is it still ahead of the other 4x4 options? Is the car lazy and do you get bogged down climbing steep grades? How does it pick up from a stoplight?I had an American car. I love America but the cars suck.

Why don't you try supporting our own auto manufacturers, instead of the japanese owned!

5-Speed Automatic (City/Highway/Combined; 4WD) 19/24/21 thats is straight from their website ,however i would subtract atleast one or two mpg ,also with new cars they have a breaking in period before you can get the maximum mpg. Also what year were you looking at ?If it is older than 08 than the mpg are somewhat a hyperbole. And with any four wheel drive system you will always consume more gas, the engine has to work harder to supply enought power to both drive shafts so i doubt their is any advanced option there, the only thing is stated for 4 wheel drive is that it has a hydraulic traction control feature.Me personally i am not a fan of the element ,they look ugly to me or ,many foreigns at that, if you wanted to look for something alike i would look into a Chevy Tahoe they have hybrids now.Hope this helps

The element is fine, but I bought a CRV instead. It is built on a newer chassis, is roomier, more comfortable and gets a bit better mileage.
