pull the coil wire from the cap and use your screw driver at the end of that wire and check for spark.Check the wires in the distributor for worn wires cuz the worn part will ground out your spark if its touching the outside of the distributor

There are actually a few things it can be. Most of them are directly involved with the distributor. Yes the coil is one of those things. However there are other things that would cause the coil not to produce spark. First you need to check all the fuses to make sure you are not beating yourself up over something very simple. If all the fuses are good, check the connectors to the distributor. Not just to see if the connectors are plugged in tightly, but also that all the wires are in the connectors properly. They sometimes can wiggle loose in the connector. Just take a small screw driver and make sure they are pushed all the way in. If that does not solve your problem you can point the finger toward the distributor. There is a piece in the distributor called the igniter. That is what actually tells the coil to produce spark. What you can do is get your hands on a coil that you know to be good. Put that in you distributor, if it works you need a coil. If not you will most likely need to replace the distributor itself.
