HEllo all I am in the market for a new coupe and am very interested in the 02 Honda Accord, however I have read on a few sites about major transmission rebuilds at around 90k miles. Would like to avoid heavy repair cost , again I am looking at the 2002 Honda Accord EX v6 coupe. Thanks in advance, any links with in ddepth, high mielage or whatever reviews would be appreciated as well. THANKS

I have one and love it. Mine only has like 64,000 miles on it though. I hope I don't have transmission problems. But it drives very smoothly, and has had minimal problems. There was some issue with my windshield fluid tank, which they fixed even after the warranty had expired, and the latch on the hood needs to be oiled once in awhile, but that is it. I bought it new in 2002.

Yes, the V6 with auto trans had problems. A great many fail anywhere between 20k and 120k. Honda probably should have issued a recall, but they seldom do. The ones that Honda repaired and/or replaced under warranty, they repair/replace them with the same original design (they have not gone back and corrected the design defect). Many of those that had repairs or replacements done experienced the same troubles again after driving so many miles. I bought a coupe and did not want the 6. I got the 4 cyl ULEV. It's great on gas and I don't race around in it. Racing around in Hondas is what destroys a lot of them too. Honda's are great if you baby them and treat them gently, but if abused, they break real easy and repairs can be very expensive (about triple the cost of US made cars).

Hi, The accords with v6's do have a lot of transmission problems. From what I have scene the 4 cyl's do not though. I have a 2000, my roomate has a 2001, and my other friend has a 2000, all of us had no problems with the cars at all, two of these are well over 100,000 miles.
