the fuel pump and relay work, think it might be filter problem due to cold environment, water in fuel, added methyl hydrate to maybe fix the problem but still won't hold idle, will die as soon as gas pedal is depressed or just die by itself. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as i want to avoid taking it to the shop.

1992? And you press the gas pedal and the car dies? It's the fuel injection system. Something isn't injecting enough fuel into it to keep the engine running. I'm afraid I can't help you with a suggestion. If it were an "old" model with a carburetor, I'd tell you to check the accelerator pump in the carb. You could rebuild it for a few bucks. But with fuel injection...I don't know. With one that old, you might want to run a bunch of fuel injector cleaner through it.
