ewe have the above car with 24,000mls and plan to motor across europe to italy for summer work, my husband wants us to change the car for a more powerful engine (1800) but i do not like the shape of the new Honda civic if i have to change i would get a ford focus which i had before but which model would have the high spec that my civic has, and how much should i expect to get, and should i try to sell it privately,

I have no idea i'm afraid. I work for Landrover, not Ford. BUT, If you have time, you'll always make more selling your cars privately. About the ford thing, pop in to your local dealer and ask them. That's what they're there for.

You would be so much better off getting the 1.8L motor into that honda. Fords are junk.

I really wouldn't change at all if the choice was a new Civic or a Ford Focus. Your 1.6 vtec Civic will easily cope with a long drive. The new Civic's a lot heavier than yours, and the 1.8 will probably be slower than your 1.6, and Ford engines are no match for a Honda. You'd need a 2.0 litre Focus before you saw any significant performance improvement, and it would cost you at the petrol station.

ford well they make average and know how to charge, think again, honda no how to make a car
