I have a 4 door 4 cylinder 1996 Honda Accord Ex. I saw this short ram AEM short ram intake at Advanced Auto Parts polished for $98. What benefits besides a bit of HP will it have? I also want the engine to sound awesome.And one more question. Does the air intake or the mufler make more sound? Because right now, the muffler it has (it came with the car whenever I bought it) sounds loud!

Don't waste your money on a short ram. A short ram is pretty much for looks. It looks cool, but lets think about it.The filter is in the same place that the air box was.Why will that air be colder through that filter than it was through the air box?....It won't.A log ram cold air intake is the only way to go to get a TRUE cold air intake. Heat rises.....The filter for a long ram is down low in the engine compartment where the air is not as hot.It may cost a little more for a long ram, but you will see a difference with it. A short ram is for looks. Neither intake will affect your exhaust sound.

If you want a lot of noise out of your engine a short ram intake is probably the way to go, especially if you have vtec your engine will get pretty loud. A short ram intake will give you some better performance because it does allow your engine to breath better. If you want the best performance you would need the full cold air intake that puts the filter up under the bumper. You need to be carefull if you do this though because you can suck up a lot of water in a bad storm ruining your engine, but a bypass valve can usually prevent that.

a friend of mine has the same car and he gots a aem cold air intake with a greddy sp2 exhaust and it sounds mean as hell haha who uses long ram cold air intake
