Never believe anything about imrpoving MPG from after market products. Tornado air, K&N, etc. Even with no air filter, you would actually LOSE MPG, but gain HP.K&N simply lets the vehicle breathe better, but restricts just enough to make it viable.Remember, K&N filters need to be oiled (oil packs allow particles to stick to the material) and CLEANED often.Regular filters can be tossed away every 12k miles and replaced for $10.I think if anything, your MPG will stay almost exactly the same.Besides, you drive a Civic which already gets around 30mpg average. Dont waste the money. (unless you plan on keeping the car for more than 10 years so the filter can pay for itself, *lifetime warranty*)

Minor improvement, but the great thing about them? Why I ended up grabbing one? They live a good, long time. Just have a looksee now and again around the same interval you would change a paper filter, and clean it when necessary with the provided chems.Actually works out cheaper, and there is less airflow restriction than with paper. Don't be a riceboy mentality and think things like this or WOW COLD AIR INTAKE AND PERFORMANCE SPARK PLUG WIRESET!!!! will turn a 4 cylinder into a turbo or something, but there are often some minor improvements...and it is cheaper to clean that filter several times than to buy the equivalent number of paper filters. All plusses, no negatives, why not?

Here is part of K&N's disclaimer, "K&N makes no general fuel economy claims, however we encourage you to try our air filter for yourself." I've put them on both of my vehicles. At $22.00 for a paper filter on my V8 Explorer I payed off the K&N in 20,000 miles. I believe they are definitely worth the investment.

it increases horsepower and mpg.but heres the thing, if you drive normally with the air filter, you will get more mpg but if you drive fast, like revving the engine past 5000 rpms then you wont get better gas mileage, it will be less mpg, but more horsepower
