Default feels stronger w/ intake, will a chip really do much?

Its an 04 Si, I made the intake with KN filter , and plumbing reduction part, not touching any sensors.Feels good , not to loud, have read in answers that those cheap chinese chips only trick more fuel in there.

All youve done is slap on a homemade intake? If thats the case dont consider spending 300+ dollars on an Engine management unit alone, and then spending 100's more to have your stock motor dyno tuned by a professional. You'll gain like 10 hp. Tuning comes later down the road. Buy a real intake first. Go the traditional route. Intake/header/exhuast... then maybe an intake manifold, bigger throttle body, cams blah blah blah. Its most cost effective. Theres a reason people traditionally follow this path. Hope this cleared some things up for you
