Hi, my old prelude 89 is running into problems. Ill list them here, any help would be greatly appreciated,

1.The engine light has come on, and the section of the display where it shows the gear (its automatic) is flashing. During the trip home the car was jerking, and reving high. When i parked and changed to reverse, the engine cut out. Then i turned it on again, put it in drive - no warning light, put it in reverse - no warning light. Does anyone know what can cause this? Im really tight on money atm so hopefully its something i can fix myself.

2.After a 20min stop start trip(traffic lights) when i turn the car off the cooling fan starts up and it sounds like the car is still on, is this running down the battery? is this normal? possible fix?

3.Im pretty sure the starter motor is on the way out. is it worth repairing or getting a new one?
