Hi i am thinking about purchasing an 1999 Honda civic si with a LS motor and GSR tranny, for $2000, the only problem is it has major front body damage, but the motor is completely fine and working, i just need a new whole front body and hood, Does anyone have an estimate on how much that would cost around, (looking for just stock 99' si body)? And is an LS motor with GSR tranny better then the stock SI 1.6L DOHC-VTEC engine? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in Advance!

I wish my husband was here to give me an answer but I have a car of a similar age that needs the front body fixed and the cheapest estimate to fix everything was 1,500...that is for the bumper, grille, compressor, lights, hood (it doesn't go down), and a bunch of other things.I'll try to come back to this later when he's home. He's a mechanic but he doesn't do body work.

UH- NO the B16 is WAY better than the p.o.s. LS engine. For one the B16 is about $1,500, and the LS engine (B18B) can be EASILY found for $500. Plus you loose VTEC. Anybody that installs this engine in place of the B16 is a MORON. The only way its beneficial is if you do a LS/VTEC swap. which apparantly has not been done because it would still have the B16 head on it. What has happened is the car was totaled and they sold the good motor and got a CHEAP garbage motor to fill the engine bay because the LS motor uses the same mounts as te B16. BUYER BEWARE. You should be able to find a 99-00 SI for about $6,000-$8,000 and not have any worries about it. I know it sounds like alot, but with that engine you may as well be buying a EX model. Along with the body damage and everything else you can expect to pay about another $5,000 just in parts and labor to get it running and looking correct with a salvage title. STAY AWAY!!!

well it depends on how much damage is done to the front clip of the car you know frame sub frame ect but to fix just the body on the front if thats all it needs will cost between 1500 to 2000 but that doesnt include labor im with the other dude STAY AWAY FROM THE CAR DO NOT BUY IT YOU WILL REGRET IT
