I have a 1993 accord se. The instrument cluster temperature control seems to bind when I try to move it to heat. It sounds like the cable is hitting something.

I'm wondering how to find out where the problem is. Do I have to take the entire dash assembly off, or will the climate control unit itself come off.

Any suggestions, or expectations of how to solve this will be appreciated.

I've searched for and found a number of posts regarding stuck heater cables, but each seems to be a different model.

If someone could give me a hint how to start, I would appreciate that.

I took the glove box off and saw where the cable from the heater dial connects to another. After pushing on this other cable I was able to move the temperature dial to the hot position.

Therefore I suspect the problem is with this second cable. Any ideas what the path is for this cable? Where does it go and what could be the problem there?

I would have put my head into the space but it's too big to fit.
