2003 Civic Brake Issue
I have a standard 2003 Honda Civic LX sedan, 4-cyl automatic transmission. Lately (i.e. past 2 months), I have noticed a metal-to-metal high-pitched rubbing sound in my passenger front tire area when I occasionally hit a bump in the road. I first noticed this at speed on the freeway when I changed lanes, hitting a lane marker. It also happens when I'm going about 40 or so and hit a pothole or something in the city. Funny thing - it goes away when I press the brake pedal hard/long enough.
The brakes do not make any other noise/vibration/etc at any other time.
Had a shop inspect the front brakes - nothing wrong. Said that the brakes were at about 80% worn, and would need to change in a few months. Back brakes were dusty, but nothing wrong. Checked the front brakes out myself, and no deep groves or anything loose that I could find/move with the wheel off.
Really confused as to what might be causing this. Any and all help would be great!
