If its a 6 cly, 21 MPG is OK. If its a 4 cly, Thats vary bad.A good 6 cly should bet 25-28 MPG.A 4 cly will get 30-35 MPG.

Very bad; maybe the engine is shot? Does it smoke?

Very bad. Like the person before me said, even a V-6 should be getting better then that. And it is probably a straight 4 in your car. My Ford truck has a 4.2 litre V-6 which is very big for a 6, and it gets 18 miles to the gallon city, with somewhat agressive driving. A Honda wshould blow that away. The forst thing I would do is get your feul injector cleaned and properly inflate the tires. That will help a little bit and is very cheap, but yeah something is definatley wrong.

That is BAD, especially if it a 4 cylinder. We had a 94 escort that got 35 mpg with a 4 cylinder
